HairIO: Enhancing Non-Verbal Communication

Project Overview: Hairio is an innovative device designed at the MIT Media Lab that leverages hair and fur-based interfaces for subtle, effective non-verbal communication over distances. This project challenges current telecommunication tools by introducing a tactile dimension to digital interactions, fostering a sense of presence and intimacy between users.

My Role: I led the design and programming of Hairio, conceptualizing and implementing its core features from the ground up. My contributions included developing the sensory hardware that allows Hairio to simulate human touch, integrating these features into a user-friendly, wearable device that supports intimate, ambient interactions between users.
